How to watch workouts on your TV
You can play workouts on your TV by casting from your phone or computer, or by connecting with an HDMI cable. The right option depends on the device you're watching from and the TV or streaming device you're watching on.
Find your setup in the table below. Then follow the steps in your device's section.
| Watching from | Watching on | Use |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone or iPad | Apple TV, AirPlay smart TV, AirPlay-compatible Roku, Fire TV smart TV | AirPlay |
| iPhone or iPad | Chromecast, Google TV, Fire TV Stick, older Roku | Third-party app or HDMI |
| Android | Chromecast, Google TV, Android TV | Google Cast |
| Android (Samsung and other Miracast phones) | Roku, Fire TV Stick | Screen mirroring |
| Android | Apple TV, AirPlay TV | HDMI |
| Mac | Apple TV, AirPlay smart TV, AirPlay-compatible Roku, Fire TV smart TV | AirPlay in Safari |
| Mac, Windows PC or Chromebook | Chromecast, Google TV | Cast in Chrome |
| Windows PC | Miracast TV, Roku, Fire TV Stick | Screen mirroring |
| Any device | Anything not listed | HDMI cable |
Before you start
- Connect your phone or computer and your TV (or streaming device) to the same Wi-Fi network. Casting doesn't work over cellular data.
- Make sure your devices and TV have up to date software.
iPhone or iPad
iPhones and iPads cast with AirPlay.
Works with:
- Apple TV
- Smart TVs with AirPlay 2 (many newer models)
- Most Roku TVs and streaming players. If you see Apple AirPlay and HomeKit in your Roku's Settings, it's supported.
- Fire TV smart TVs, such as the Omni Series and 4-Series
How to cast:
- On your TV or streaming device, make sure AirPlay is turned on in Settings. Apple TV has it on by default.
- Go to app.heatherrobertson.com and open your workout.
- Tap the AirPlay icon in the video player.
- Select your TV and press play.
IPhones and iPads do not work with Chromecast, Google TV or Fire TV Stick. For these, use a third-party app such as DoCast, or connect with HDMI. Roku devices without an AirPlay setting need the same workaround.

Android phone or tablet
Android devices cast with Google Cast.
Works with:
- Chromecast
- Google TV and Android TV
- TVs with Chromecast built in
How to cast:
- Make sure casting is turned on in your TV's settings.
- Swipe down from the top of your screen to open Quick Settings.
- Tap Screen Cast or Cast. On Samsung phones, tap Smart View.
- Select your TV and confirm to start casting.
- Open your workout and press play.
💡Tip: Using a Samsung phone? Chromecast devices may not appear in Smart View until you turn on Chromecast support. Open Smart View in Quick Settings, tap the three-dot menu, then go to Settings > Labs and turn on Chromecast support.
Roku or Fire TV Stick: Some Android phones, including most Samsung phones, can mirror their screen to a Roku or Fire TV Stick. Google Pixel phones can't.
- On a Fire TV Stick, go to Settings > Display & Audio and select Enable Display Mirroring. On a Roku, no setup is needed.
- On your phone, open Quick Settings and tap Smart View, Screen Mirroring or a similar option.
- Select your Roku or Fire TV Stick. On a Roku, accept the prompt that appears on your TV.
- Open your workout and press play.
Mirroring shows your whole screen, so playback may be less smooth than casting.
If your phone doesn't have a mirroring option, connect with HDMI.
Android devices do not work with Apple TV or AirPlay TVs. Connect with HDMI instead.

Connect with an HDMI cable
HDMI is the most reliable way to watch on your TV, and it doesn't depend on Wi-Fi.
Most computers support it, but not every phone or tablet can send video through its charging port, so check your device below before buying an adapter.
| Your device | Cable or adapter |
|---|---|
| iPhone 15 and later | USB-C to HDMI adapter |
| iPhone 14 and earlier | Lightning to HDMI adapter |
| Newer iPad (USB-C port) | USB-C to HDMI adapter |
| Older iPad (Lightning port) | Lightning to HDMI adapter |
| Samsung Galaxy S series or Google Pixel 8 and later | USB-C to HDMI adapter |
| Mac, Windows PC or Chromebook | HDMI cable, or a USB-C to HDMI adapter if there's no HDMI port |
Note: iPhone 16e, iPhone 17e, Samsung Galaxy A series, and Google Pixel 7 and earlier can't connect by cable. Use casting or screen mirroring instead. For other Android devices, check your specs for "video output" before buying an adapter.
To connect:
- Plug your device into your TV.
- Switch your TV to the matching HDMI input.
- Open your workout and press play.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why doesn't my TV show up when I try to cast?
Our video player runs in your web browser, so it uses the casting tool built into your device: AirPlay on Apple devices, Google Cast on Android and Chrome. Your TV will only appear if it supports that same tool. Check your device's section above to see what's supported.
Can I use my TV's web browser?
Some smart TVs have a built-in browser where you can log in at app.heatherrobertson.com. TV browsers vary widely and aren't always compatible with our web app, so casting or HDMI will be more reliable.
Still having trouble? See Troubleshooting casting and video playback or contact Support.
