How to cast videos to your television
Casting lets you enjoy your workouts on the big screen. This guide explains how to cast, how to troubleshoot, and what to do if you don’t see a casting icon. If casting isn't available to you, this article highlights your options.

Before you start: Casting requirements
📝 Note: To cast to a TV your TV must support AirPlay/Chromecast or you have an external device (Roku, Chromecast, Firestick) plugged into it.
- Check software on all devices - phone, tablet, TV, Chromecast, Roku, Firestick etc - is up to date
- Identify the casting protocol that your devices use:
- Apple devices use AirPlay
- Android devices use Chromecast
- Enable casting on your TV
- In your tv's settings menu, look for AirPlay, Chromecast, Screencast, Mirroring options.
Tips on casting to a Samsung TV
- Connect all devices to Wi-Fi
- Your phone/tablet/laptop and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi.
- You cannot cast over cellular data.
If your devices are compatible and active, a Cast or AirPlay icon will appear on the workout video screen.
⚠️ Screen lock interruptions: If your device locks or sleeps, casting may disconnect.
Disable auto-lock/sleep before starting your workout.
How to cast Using AirPlay
- Open app.heatherrobertson.com
- Choose your video.
- Select the AirPlay icon.
- Select your TV or device.
- Press play.
How to cast using Chromecast
📝 Note: If using an iPhone/iPad with a Chromecast device, you’ll need a third-party Chromecast app.
- Option 1: Use Quick Settings
- Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the notification shade, and swipe down again to expand the Quick Settings menu.
- Tap "Screen Cast" or "Cast".
- Select your Chromecast-enabled TV or device from the list.
- Tap "Start now" to begin casting.
To stop, expand the notification shade, tap the casting notification, and select your device to disconnect.
- Option 2: Use the Google Home app
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap the "Account" tab, then scroll down and tap "Mirror device".
- Tap "Cast Screen/Audio" and choose your Chromecast device from the list.
- To stop, go back to the app and tap "Disconnect"
⚠️ Samsung Devices: There is an option in the phone that needs to be turned on in order for it to recognize Chromecast enabled devices.
- Open the Quick settings panel by swiping down from the top of your screen
- Tap on the Smart View icon
- Select the three-dot menu icon located in the top right corner
- Tap on Settings
- Select Labs
- Toggle the Chromecast support or Google Cast option to the "on" position.
How to cast to a Roku Device
- Open app.heatherrobertson.com
- Select your video
- Select the AirPlay icon
- Choose your Roku
- Press play
📝 Note: Roku uses AirPlay
⚠️ Android devices may accidentally try to mirror, which reduces quality of video playback
How to cast to a Firestick
Option 1: Use the Firestick Web Browser
- Open the Internet app (Amazon Silk) on Firestick
- Go to app.heatherrobertson.com
Login and play your workout directly
(no casting required)
Option 2: Cast via Android (Miracast)
- Enable Mirroring on Firestick
- Swipe down on your Android and select Cast / Smart View
- Select your Firestick
- Open the workout and press play
📝 Note: Firestick uses Miracast - compatible with Android devices
If using an iPhone/iPad, you’ll need a third-party app installed on the Firestick (e.g., an AirPlay receiver app).
Using your TV's browser

Troubleshooting casting issues
I Don’t See a Casting Icon
- Check Device Compatibility
- AirPlay Apple devices are compatible with Airplay
- Android devices are compatible with Chromecast
📝 Note: If your devices are not compatible, try a third-party app such as AirScreen or DoCast.
- Check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, you cannot cast via cellular data.
- Enable casting on your TV: In your tv's settings menu, look for AirPlay, Chromecast, Screencast, Mirroring options
- Ensure your software is up to date on your devices - phone, tablet, TV, Chromecast, Roku, Firestick, etc.
- Reset Connections
- Toggle Wi-Fi off/on
- Restart your TV/device
- Try a different browser
💡 Still not able to cast? Use a hard-wired HDMI cable from your device to your TV.
My video freezes or loses progress when I press pause while casting
In order to workaround the pause issue, try exiting full screen mode (X) and then pausing it in the player.
