How do I cast using Roku device?

💡 Roku uses AirPlay to cast.

If you are using a device with Chromecast it may try to mirror your screen instead. Mirroring drastically reduces the video playback quality and you may notice buffering and freezing.

You can tell if your device is mirroring if you can see all of the browser controls, window tabs and search bar, rather than just the video screen.

Casting to your Roku:

  1. Ensure your device and Roku are connected to the same WiFi
  2. Turn on AirPlay in your Roku settings menu
  3. Open app.heatherrobertson.com , choose the video you want to watch, and select the Airplay Icon on the bottom right of the video screen.
  4. Select your Roku from the list of available devices
  5. Press play on the video.

Troubleshooting:

  1. If your Roku does not show up in available devices: reboot Roku and your device; toggle Wi-Fi off/on
  2. Ensure your device and Roku are connected to the same WiFi
  3. Be sure you have turned on AirPlay in your Roku settings menu
  4. Ensure your Roku device is running Roku OS 9.4 or above
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Select System
    3. Select About
  5. Ensure your Roku software is up to date
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Select System
    3. Check for Software updates
  6. Check your mobile device or computer for any updates
  7. Connect with the Roku customer support for further help

⚠️ If your device goes to a locked screen during casting or mirroring, the video playback may disconnect. To avoid being disconnected, be sure to turn off auto screen lock or sleep settings.

Still not working?

Use a hard-wired cable that will connect your device to the HDMI input of your TV for the best reliability and highest quality playback.
