How do I improve the video quality?
If your videos are buffering, freezing, or not playing smoothly, try the following steps:
1. Check Your Internet Connection
- Avoid running other heavy Wi-Fi activities (like streaming or downloading) on the same network while viewing.
- Check to see if there are multiple devices connected to the same network that are using up bandwidth (ie. YouTube, Netflix, Gaming, etc).
- Run a speed test (for example, speedtest.net) to measure your internet speed.
- If your connection is slower than expected, try:
- Turning your Wi-Fi off and back on.
- Restarting your router.
- Moving closer to your router.
2. Adjust Video Settings
- Select the settings cogwheel icon in the video player.
- Choose a lower resolution (such as 1280 x 720 etc) if your connection is unstable.
- Note: This option is not available on iOS devices or when using Safari, as those systems will automatically default to the most optimal settings.
3. Browser Troubleshooting
- Restart your browser completely.
- Ensure your browser is updated to the latest version.
- Clear your cache, cookies, and browsing history.
- If issues persist, test a different browser (Chrome, Safari, or Firefox).
4. Device Troubleshooting
- Restart your device (computer, phone, or tablet).
- Confirm your device’s operating system is up to date.
- Close other applications or tabs that may be using internet bandwidth.
5. Are you casting or mirroring?
- You can tell if your device is mirroring if you can see all of the browser controls, window tabs and search bar, rather than just the video screen. Mirroring drastically reduces the video playback quality and you may notice buffering and freezing. If you have a casting device, switch to that option, or use a hard-wired cable that will connect your device directly to your TV’s HDMI instead.
- Are you using any Third party apps? Some third-party apps can add lag and decrease the quality of your video playback. Use a hard-wired cable that will connect your device directly to your TV’s HDMI instead.
⚠️ If your device goes to a locked screen during casting or mirroring, the video playback may disconnect. To avoid being disconnected, be sure to turn off auto screen lock or sleep settings.
