How do I cast using Chromecast?
- Make sure your device has Chromecast built-in or you have an external Chromecast device plugged in.
- Ensure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- For smoother playback, avoid running other heavy Wi-Fi activities (like streaming or downloads) on the same network while casting.
- Ensure your TV’s Chromecast has been enabled. This can be found in the settings menu on your TV. Look for Cast enable, Screen Mirroring etc. depending on the brand of your TV.
- Ensure your device is compatible with Chromecast. Android operating systems
How to cast using Chromecast
Check that your phone recognizes the TV or Chromecast device. Swipe down on your phone or go to the settings and look for Cast screen to see a list of connected devices. If you are using a Samsung, this will say “Smartview”.
- Open app.heatherrobertson.com on your device
- Choose the video you want to watch.
- Select the Chromecast icon (bottom right corner of the video).
- Choose your TV from the list of available Chromecast devices
- Press play on the video
⚠️ If your device goes to a locked screen during casting or mirroring, the video playback may disconnect. To avoid being disconnected, be sure to turn off auto screen lock or sleep settings.
Troubleshooting:
- Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi. You can’t cast via cellular data
- Ensure both your device and TV have the most up-to-date software
- If your Chromecast TV or device doesn’t appear: make sure screen mirroring/casting has been enabled in the TV or device settings. You can also try to reboot the TV and device; toggle Wi-Fi off/on
- Connect with your Chromecast device customer support for further help
